How to get around in Prague

Bus, Tram & Metro

Prague has an extensive and efficient public transportation system that includes metros (subways), trams, and buses. The metro is the fastest way to travel across the city.

Tickets are valid across all modes of public transport, so you can easily switch between metro, tram, and bus. You need to buy and validate your ticket before boarding. Tickets can be purchased at stations, kiosks, or via the PID Lítačka mobile app (https://pidlitacka.cz/en). You can find all the necessary information on how and where to buy tickets, as well as routes, fares, and timetables, on the official Prague Integrated Transport (Pražská integrovaná doprava) website at https://pid.cz/en/ or on the Prague Transit Authority website at https://www.dpp.cz/en.

Taxis

We recommend avoiding taxis parked in front of major tourist sites or train stations, as they are likely to charge much higher rates. There are many reputable taxi companies in Prague that offer reasonable fares and good service, such as:

  • AAA Radiotaxi – tel: 222 333 222, www.aaa-taxi.cz
  • Sedop – tel: 227 227 227, www.sedop.cz
  • City Taxi – tel. 257 257 257. www.citytaxi.cz
  • Profi Taxi – tel. 14015, www.profitaxi.cz
  • Halotaxi – tel. 244 114 411, www.halotaxi.cz

Uber, Bolt & Liftago

For those who prefer more direct private transport, use reputable companies or ride-sharing an alternative to taxi services.

From the Airport to the City Center

Bus number 59 (or 119) is a popular and convenient option, taking you to the Nádraží Veleslavín metro station, where you can transfer to Metro Line A (green line).

From Nádraží Veleslavín, take Metro Line A to the city center. The metro is a quick and efficient way to reach various destinations in Prague.

Official taxis are available at designated stands outside the arrivals hall. Ride-sharing services also operate from the airport and can be more affordable and transparent.
